RDW
How much your red blood cells vary in size.
If it's high
Wider variation can be an early sign of low iron, B12 or folate.
- Iron-rich foods: spinach and other greens, lentils, rajma, chana, soya, eggs, fish or lean meat
- Vitamin C with meals (amla, guava, orange, lemon) to help absorb iron
- B12: milk, curd, paneer, eggs, fish, chicken; fortified cereals if vegetarian
If it's low
Low values are rarely a concern.
A question for your doctor
Could an early nutrient deficiency explain this?
